Duane Allen Meye, 76, Township of Prentice, died on Friday, January 18, 2013, at the Memorial Health Center of Taylor County, Medford. He was born on August 9, 1936, in Park Falls, the son of Ralph “Curly” and Clara (Mostrom) Meye. He spent his early life in Prentice. He and his family moved to the Milwaukee area in 1947. He attended grade school and the Riverside High School in Milwaukee. He was married to Carol Preisinger on October 5, 1957, in Milwaukee. They recently celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary. He was employed by Cornell Paperboard, John Oster Mfgr, and then at Coca Cola all in Milwaukee prior to his retirement. Following their retirement they made their home in the Township of Prentice. In his free time he enjoyed bowling, pitching horseshoes, playing cards, shooting trap, puzzles, feeding the bird, and gardening.
He was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Ogema.
He is survived by his wife Carol, Township of Prentice, by 1 daughter: Sharon Furger, Horicon, Wi., by 2 sons: Dean (Gail) Hartland, Wi., and Dale “JoJo” Township of Prentice, by 5 grandchildren: Jenell, Brandon, Brittney, Jessica, and Kathy, by 4 great grandchildren: Miranda, Gracie, Porter, and Sierra., by 4 brothers: Marvin (Pat) Big Bend, Wi., Arden (Patricia) Milwaukee, Arland (Nancy) Ogema, and Dennis (Janice) New Berlin, and by several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, January 22, 2013, at the Heindl Funeral Home, Prentice, with Pastor Robert Giese officiating.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 9:00 A.M. on Tuesday until the time of the service.
The Heindl Funeral Home, Prentice, is in charge of the arrangements.
