Edward Albert Lasee Sr, 85, Phillips, former Catawba resident, died at his home in Phillips on Thursday, October 24, while under the care of his family and Flambeau Home Health and Hospice. He was born in Catawba on April 19, 1928, the son of William and Anna Lasee. He was married to Lila Gehring on November 6, 1954, in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Catawba. He operated a dairy farm in the Town of Catawba, was employed as a logger by Owens Illinois corporation of Tomahawk, and then was employed by Omark Industries of Prentice until the time of his retirement. He was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church of Catawba, a Charter Member of the Kennan Catawba Lions Club, and for many years was active as a Boy Scout Leader. He worked on and enjoyed the Kennan Catawba Lumberman’s Day celebration. In later years he enjoyed and was well known for his artistic chainsaw carving. In his free time he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 59 years, Lila; by ten children, Randy (Sherry), Sobieski, WI, Mark (Mary), Florence, WI, Greg (Betsy), Prentice, WI, Becky Lasee, Holmen, WI, Jeanne (Pete Matt) Lasee, Holmen, WI, David (Margaret), Catawba, WI, Ed Jr (Kathy), Marengo, WI, Tom, Catawba, Michael (Lynn), Mosinee, WI, and Tim, Rothschild, WI; by 13 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren; and by numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by one sister, Marian Jennings.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, November 2, at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Catawba with Father Gerald Hagen celebrating the Funeral Mass. Inurnment will be in the Catawba Cemetery in Catawba. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services.
The family suggests that memorials offerings may be made to the Kennan Catawba Lions Club.
