Elaine Edith Reisner, 83, Kennan

Elaine Edith Reisner, 83, Kennan, died at the Golden Living Golden Age Home in Tomahawk while under the care of her family and Aseracare Hospice on Monday, December 16, 2013. Elaine was born in Ladysmith, Wisconsin, on July 2, 1930, and is preceded in death by her father and mother Rudolph and Edith (Kirmse) Kuchlenz.
Elaine was proud of her parent’s gas station where she grew up and was always willing to help those in need. She graduated from Hawkins High School and then pursed a teaching degree at Lincoln County Normal School. On August 26, 1950, she was married to Raymond J. Reisner in Dubuque, Iowa.
Elaine was a devout member of the Zion Lutheran Church of Kennan and was involved in Zion Ladies Aid, the Church Choir and served as a Sunday School Teacher. In the mid 1960’s, Elaine began work as a clerk at the Kennan Post Office where she was later promoted to Postmaster, a position she held until the time of her retirement in 1999. While holding the postal position, she also worked on their farm - she wasn’t afraid of work. In her free time, Elaine enjoyed scrapbooking, playing the piano, accordion, ukulele, and listening to polka music. She loved animals and was a kind woman who never had a bad word about anyone, “kill them with kindness” she would say.
She is survived by three children, Dennis Reisner, Minneapolis, MN, Diane Unglaub, Crandon, WI, and Kay (David) Osterberg, Tomahawk; by four grandchildren, Kim Geske, Linnea Unglaub, both of Crandon, WI, Shawna Osterberg, Wausau, WI, and David Osterberg Jr., Rhinelander; and by one great grandson, Kesler Geske, Crandon. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond, on June 15, 2009.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Monday, December 23, 2013, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Kennan with Pastor John Trewyn officiating. Friends may call at the church on Monday from 1:30 p.m. until the time of services.
The Heindl Funeral Home in Phillips is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
