Emily K. Burgess, 97, Ogema



     Emily K. Burgeson, 97, Ogema, died in the Flambeau Hospital in Park Falls on Monday, December 24, 2012.  She was born in Spirit, Wisconsin, on March 13, 1915, the daughter of August and Emma (Johnson) Swanson.  She attended the county Line Grade School in Spirit, and Business College in Chicago, Illinois.  She was married to Herbert Burgeson in Chicago, Illinois, on December 18, 1948.  She was employed as a receptionist by the Millar Coffee Company in Chicago for 40 years, retiring in 1979.  After their retirement she and Herbert moved to Ogema.  She was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Ogema, and of the Ogema Homemakers Club.  In her free time she enjoyed travel, shopping, and her cats. 
     He is survived by three nieces, Sylvia (Ed) Larson, Beloit, WI, Pamela Zielke, Tomahawk, and Audrey (Allan) Campbell, Dryden, Ontario, Canada; by two nephews, Darwin (Donna) Zielke, Medford, and Carl Johnson, Phillips; and by great nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert, on August 29, 1982; by two brothers, Henry and Gust Swanson; and by five sisters, Gerda (Ragner) Nelson, Edyth (Walter) Hayber, Esther (George) Petcu, Victoria (Theodore) Nelson, and Viola (Henry) Zielke.
     Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, December 29, at the First Lutheran Church in Ogema with Pastor Robert Giese officiating.  Interment will be in the Hillside Cemetery in Ogema.  Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9:30 A.M. until the time of services.
     The Heindl Funeral Home in Prentice is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
