Franklin D. Wittling, 80, Township of Worcester, died on Friday, February 21, 2014, at the Aspirus Pleasant View Nursing Home, while under the care of Flambeau Home Health Care and Hospice. He was born on August 30, 1933, in Chicago, Ill., the son of Herman and Pauline (Kania) Wittling. He made his home in the Township of Worcester with his family as a child. He attended school in Phillips. He was married to Marion Ziegler in May of 1972. They later divorced. He was employed as a diary farmer on the family farm until 1967. He then was employed by the Price County Highway Department from 1969 until the time of his retirement in 1995. In his free time he was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and hiking, and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by 1 daughter Paulina (Russ) Krolow, by 1 granddaughter Katelynn Krolow, and by his ex wife Marion Wittling, all of New London, Wi., by nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and many friends including Lois and Ray Riley, Phillips.
He was preceded in death by his parents, by 1 brother Herbie Wittling, by 1 infant sister, and by 1 niece Caroline.
A graveside service will be held in the spring at the Lakeside Cemetery, Phillips, with Fr. Gerald Hagen officiating.
