What does one do when you have a Sunday off and the temperture doesn't get above zero? ANSWER: Head to an indoor event. And what a job the Flambeau Hospital Foundation did in putting together the Men's Sport & Health Expo. Fantastic event for both men AND women. A ton of events for all to enjoy, topped off by the guest speaker this year Gilbert Brown. Great speaker, who had a terrific story about his brother who might have been with us had he had a check-up on a lump on his chest. Turned out to be breast cancer and killed him at a very young age.
Thanks a ton Flambeau Hospital for helping to make us forget about this brutal winter. At least for a few hours :)
As the legendary coach of the Green Bay Packers once said "What the hell is going on here?". In my 38 years living in Park Falls, I've never seen anythiong like it. Heck, I just got back from 2 weeks in Mexico and it now seems like I never even went!!!!!
Back we are after a 2 week get-away in Puerto Vallarta Mexico. And it was not all fun & games. I actually put the Tequila bottle down and learned some facts about Mexico. First off, a few misconceptions about our friends down south. You CAN drink the water and not worry about getting sick. Truth be known....their agua (water), is purified several more times that our water and is super safe. Second..Crime in Mexico does NOT run wild! The Mexican government is as strict as any for law violations. In fact being caught with a joint, will land you in jail for 2 years. TWO YEARS! And your family is responsible for feeding you the entire two years. Even a little parking violation will get your license plates removed from your vehicle. You then have to go to the "city Hall", and pay the fine before returning to the road.
So see.....it wasn't just about the snorkeling, parasailing, 4 wheeling, eating, drinking, swimming, and fun in the sun!!!!
Adios Amigos !
Greetings from your favorite afternoon dj at 98Q Country (of course, I'm the only one!). Something happened yesterday for the 1st time in my 14+ years at the station. Our main studio control board just died!! DIED! I went to play our 98 Lights of Christmas, flipped a few switches....and BOOM.....everything went dark. I guess if you stick around long enough, you'll see it all. Anyway, thanks to another studio, our show will go on as our highly trained engineering staff fix the problem.
How 'bout this weather? Our rotten year of weather is continuing. No spring, very little summer, a poor fall, and now a January-like November/December!! Thanks a lot Mother.
Stay warm.....I'll talk to ya on the radio
