Gary Lee Prellwitz, age 70 passed away unexpectedly at St. Joseph Hospital in Marshfield, WI on March 30th, 2013.
Gary was born July 17th, 1942 and grew up in Manawa, WI. Gary was the son of Martin and Lillian Prellwitz. On January 15th, 1966 he married the love of his life, Joan E. Mundinger.
Gary’s hobbies included fishing, hunting, wood working, making his lawn bigger, and his grandchildren. In his younger years, he was an avid photographer. He was always fixing things and had quite the knack for rebuilding many things. Gary was employed 15 years at Neenah Foundry until they moved the family to Butternut and bought Butternut Resort. He and Joan owned and operated the resort for 25 years. He also worked at Conners Forestry Products and Birdseye Veneer where he perfected his knife sharpening skills.
Gary was a comic and liked to joke around with friends and family. It was not uncommon to have a prank pulled on you by him. He could always make you laugh.
He is survived by his wife Joan of 47 years, daughter Tammy Mattke of Eau Claire, son Lee (Heidi) Prellwitz of Butternut, and daughter Lisa (Chris) Palecek of Mondovi, WI, five grandchildren: Ryan, Cassandra, Emily, Randy, and Gretchen, two sisters: Wyonne Riste and Betty Nowicki and one brother Lowell Prellwitz, his companion Jordan, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by one sister Carol McNulty, his brother in-law Tom Nowicki and his parents, Martin and Lillian. Martin died April 3rd (Good Friday) 1980.
His wish was to be cremated.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, April 6th at 11:00am from St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Butternut.
A visitation will be held from 9 am to the hour of the service at the church.
