Helen E. Smudde
age 85, of Butternut, died on Thursday August 21, 2014 at her home. She was born on March 3, 1929 in Butternut, the daughter of John Sr. and Helen (Zielonka) Rybak. Her early life and schooling were in Butternut. On June 24, 1950 she married Wilbert A. Smudde in Butternut. The couple resided in Chicago and later returned to Butternut in 1988 after retirement. Helen was a homemaker and enjoyed crocheting, quilting and crafts. She was a woman of strong faith and family values. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her Husband Wilbert A. Smudde in 2011, (2)daughters: Karen Koenigsman and Carol Jean Smudde, (3)granddaughters: Erin Kruml, Angela & Jessica Appleton, and her son-in-law James Appleton.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday August 30, 2014 at 11:00am from Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Fr. Ron Levra, Deacon Chet Ball, and Deacon Bob Schienebeck will co-officiate.
Private interment will follow at Assumption Catholic Cemetery in Wheaton, IL.
A visitation will be held on Saturday at the church from 10:00am until the hour of the service.
