Hilda C. Rockey, 91, Phillips, died on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at the Aspirus Pleasant View Nursing Home, Phillips. She was born on June 6, 1921, in Prentice, the daughter of Carl and Ellen (Westberg) Peterson. She attended and graduated from Prentice High School, Class of 1939 as the Salutatorian. She then made her home in Milwaukee where she was employed by the Briggs and Stratton Co. She was married to Lewis Rockey on August 24, 1942 in Wilmette, Ill. She then attended and graduated from Waukesha Technical College and received her Nursing degree She was then employed at Community Memorial Hospital in Menominee Falls until the time of her retirement.
Following their retirement they made their home in the Phillips area. She was a member of St. Therese of Lesieux Catholic Church, Phillips, the Catholic Daughters of the Church , the Council of Catholic Women ,and was an organist at the church In her free time she enjoyed music, rosemalling reading and was involved with the Ecumenical Choir of Price County.
She is survived by 1 grandson Eric and 2 great granddaughters: Erica and Paris., and by 1 special friend Nancy Longseth, Prentice.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lewis on May 21, 2001, by her parents, by 1 son: Richard by 1 sister Ruth Delaine, and by 2 brothers: Kermit and John C. Peterson.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 27, 2012, at 11:00 A.M. at the Heindl Funeral Home, Phillips, with Fr. Gerald Hagen officiating. Interment will be in the Hillside Cemetery, Ogema. Friends may call after 10:00 A.M. Saturday at the funeral home until the time of the service.
