John G. Petroski
age 87, of Butternut, went home to the Lord on Friday October 4, 2013 at Saint Josephs Hospital in Marshfield. He was born on June 27, 1926 in Butternut, the son of George and Mary (Wardzala) Petroski. His early Life and schooling where in Butternut. Later he joined the Navy near the end of WWII and served as a spotter on a mine sweeping ship in South China Sea. After his military service, he moved to the Milwaukee area and was employed with the Ladish Corporation. There he met his wife of 54 years, Carol (Page) Petroski, and they were married ion 1956. He also worked for the Milwaukee County Register of Deeds before moving his family back to Butternut in the mid-1970s. He finished his his career at Flambeau Papers in Park Falls. He was also an active member in several veterans' organizations including the American legion, 40 et 8, Polish Legion of America, and other organizations such as the Flambeau Area Sportsman's Club. He enjoyed deer hunting, musky fishing, good conversations, and card games with his grandchildren, and spending time with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Carol in 2011, (1)brother, Karl and (1)sister, Ann.
Memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at 10:00am from Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Butternut. Fr. Shaji Pazhukkathara will officiate.
A Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at 9:00am until the hour of service at the church.
The Novitzke Funeral Home is assisting the family.
