Jovita Ann Bauer, 75, Phillips, former Catawba resident, died in the Wausau Aspirus Hospital in Wausau on Saturday, January 4, 2014. She was born on August 5, 1938, in Marshfield, Wisconsin, the daughter of Arnold and Louise Ohlinger. She was a 1956 graduate of the Colby High School and attended the St. Joseph’s School of Nursing at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield. She was married to Benedict Bauer in Colby on November 18, 1963. She was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church of Catawba and was active in the Ladies Group there, and while living in Phillips attended St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church in Phillips. In her free time she enjoyed baking cakes, especially wedding cakes, knitting and crocheting, following NASCAR racing, and reading. She is survived by eight children, Jeffery (Jerry), Ridgeland, WI, Kathleen Schantner, Phillips, Marguerite (Kevin) Gullickson, Prentice, John, St. Paul, MN, Barbara (Jamie) Mockus, Ingleside, IL, Sandra (David) Kelly, Phillips, Amy (Jimmy) Kushka, Springfield, IL, and Toni (Brian) Singsime, Prentice; by 8 grandchildren and two great grandchildren; by one brother, Jerry (Donna) Ohlinger, Ladysmith; and by one sister, Marion Wavrunek, Colby. She was preceded in death by her husband, Benedict, on July 6, 2003.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, January 8, at St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church with Father Gerald Hagen celebrating the Funeral Mass. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services. Inurnment will be in the Catawba Cemetery in Catawba.
