Mary Karnosh, 94, Phillips died on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at Aspirus Regency House, Phillips, while under the care of Flambeau Home Health Care and Hospice. She was born on April 20, 1919, in Phillips, Wi., the daughter of Thomas and Mary Dragovich. She spent her entire life in the Phillips area. She attended the Squaw Creek School in the Township of Worcester. She was married to Frank Karnosh on October 31, 1939, in Hammond, Indiana. She and her husband owned and operated the Trails End Resort from 1960 to 1973. She was then employed as a cook by the Phillips High School from 1973 to 1984 at which time she retired. In her free time she enjoyed knitting, dancing, cooking, travel gardening and spending time with her family and friends.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Phillips, ZCBJ Lodge, Phillips, and was very active in the Czech Fest.
She is survived by 1 daughter Shirley (Matt) Gradinjan, Jr., Fifield, Wi., by 1 son: Don (Marlene) Karnosh, Phillips, by 6 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren, and 1 brother: Thomas (Donna) Dragovich, Phillips
She was preceded in death by her parents, by her husband Frank on Jan. 9, 1997, by 2 brothers: Paul and George Dragovich, and by 2 sisters: Kathryn Plautz and Helen Spacek.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, March 29, 2014, at the United Methodist Church, Phillips, with Pastor Loretta Waughtal officiating. Inurnment will be in the Lakeside Cemetery, Philips, in the spring. Friends may call at the United Methodist Church on Saturday, March 29, 2014, from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service.
