Mirko “Mike” Keser, 79, Phillips,-Township of Worcester died on Monday, Jan. 27, 2014, at the Park Manor Nursing Home, Park Falls,. He was born on March 13, 1934, in Croatia, the son of Mirko and Anka Keser. He immigrated to Canada in 1952. He remained in Canada until the time of his marriage. He then immigrated to the United States where he married Norma Fischer Barnes on March 18, 1972, in Chicago. They made their home in the Chicago area where he owned and operated American Home Services until 1986. They then made their home in the Township of Worcester in 1986,where they owned and operated Big Elk tavern and restaurant until the time of their retirement in 2001 In his free time he was an avid outdoorsman who especially enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife Norma, Phillips, Township of Worcester, by 2 Step Daughters: Sue Cotugno, Palatine, Ill., and Katherine (Robert) Swift, Island Lake, Ill., by 4 grandchildren: Peter, Christopher, Annie Marie and Norma Jean, by 5 great grandchildren, and by 1 sister Georgia Staresena, Sagrebe, Croatia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and by 1 sister Dragila.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at the Park Manor Nursing Home, Park Falls, with Fr. Gerald Hagen officiating. Interment will be in the Lakeside Cemetery, Phillips, in the spring. Friends may call at the Park Manor Nursing Home, Park Falls from 10:00 A.M. Tuesday until the time of the service.
