Robert “Bob” F. Barabas, 74, Chicago, Ill., died on Thursday, August 1, 2013, at the St. Paul House in Chicago, Ill., He was born on April 24, 1939, in East Chicago, Indiana, the son of Andrew and Irma (Ganz) Barabas. He attended and graduated from Washington High School, in East Chicago, Ind. Following his education he was employed by Inland Steel in East Chicago as a metallurgist until the time of his retirement In his free time he attended the operas and traveling and had traveled around the world with his companion Ken Habel He was especially proud of his Italian heritage and had visited Flacade, Italy where his ancestry originated.
He is survived by his special friend Ken Habel, Chicago, by 2 nephews Daniel Barabas, Highland, Ind., David Barabas, Warrensburg, Miss, by 1 great nephew Robert Barabas, and by many dear friends including Leonard (Patricia) Bailes, Elaine Kisisel and family and Diane Filbin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and by 1 brother Andrew Barabas.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, August 6, 2013, at St. Therese of Liseaux Catholic Church, Phillips, Wi., with Fr. Gerald Hagen officiating. Interment will be in the St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Phillips, Wi. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service.
