Robert D. Voda, Sr., 81, Colby, Wi. formerly longtime Phillips resident died on Sunday, October 13, 2013, at the Colonial Nursing Home, Colby. He was born on September 17, 1932, in Phillips, the son of John and Eva Voda. He attended Phillips High School. He then served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Following military service he was married to Darlene Upson in Phillips. They later divorced. He was employed at Philips Hardboard and then at Boise Cascade, Philips until the time of his retirement. In his free time he was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed trapping, hunting, fishing and snowmobiling.
He is survived by his 5 children Eugene (Rosalie) Voda, Maple Leaf, Minn., Barb (Randy) Vand-Hel, Green Bay, Wi., Jaime (Chris) Voda, Wis. Rapids, Wi., Betty Voda, Phillips, and Brian (Kim) Voda, Ashland, Wi., by 13 grand children, 6 great grandchildren, and 1 sister Marie Shukala, Phillips
He was preceded in death by his parents, by 1 daughter Nancy and by 1 son Robert, Jr.,
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, October 19, 2013, at the Heindl Funeral Home, Phillips, with Pastor Christina Markle of Maranatha Baptist Church officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by the Frank and Michael Baran VFW Post #5778 and the Lane-Kreiling American Post #122 both of Phillips. Friends may call at the Heindl Funeral Home from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service
Inurnment will be in the Lakeside Cemetery, Philips at a later date.
