Robert W. Listle, 82, Township of Prentice, died on Wednesday, January 29, 2014, at his home under the care of Hope Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., and his family. He was born on January 6, 1932, in Laona, Wi., the son of Charles and Beatrice (Trottier) Listle. He spent his early life and schooling in Laona. He then entered the military service and served his country in the Korean Conflict in the U.S. Army. He was married to Marlene Adams on May 10, 1958, in Milwaukee. They recently celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary. He was employed at various occupations during his working career including American Motors, Milwaukee. Owner and operator of a service station called Newburg Garage, in Newberg, Wi., then operated a salvage business in Fredonia, Wi., before making their home in Price County. They lived in the Township of Spirit and then in the Township of Prentice. While in Prentice he was employed by the Phillips School District until the time of his retirement..
In his free time he was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing, reading history and western novels and spending time with his friends at Rueben’s Sales and Service in Prentice.
He is survived by his wife Marlene, Township of Prentice, by 4 children: Cindy (Randy) Kinas, Manitowoc, Wi., Roger (Sharon Schweikert) , Township of Spirit, Mark (Darcy) Tripoli, and Joy (Derek) Schilling, Wausau 5 grandchildren, and 2 brothers: Ronald (Ann) Listle, Antigo, and John “Jack (Sandy) Listle, White Lake, Wi.,
He was preceded in death by his parents, by 1 son David, by 1 daughter Michele, by 2 brothers: Charles “Buddy” and Lloyd Listle, and by 1 sister Donnetta Martin.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2014, at 12:00 Noon at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Prentice, with Fr. Gerald Hagen officiating. Inurnment will be in the Prentice Cemetery at a later date. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9:00 A.M. until the hour of the service. Military Honors will be conducted by the Southern Price VFW Post #8491, Prentice.
