William B. Fields, 91, Catawba, died at his home in Catawba while under the care of his family and Hope Hospice on Saturday, March 9. He was born in Kennan, Wisconsin, on March 27, 1921, the son of John and Rose (Karper) Fields. He was a 1942 graduate of the Phillips High School. He served his country as a Tech Sergeant in the 6th Division of the United States Army in the Asiatic Pacific Theater of Action. He was married to Lucille Lindemann in Phillips on November 20, 1957. They operated a dairy farm in Catawba and a Christmas tree farm. He was very dedicated to his farming, and in the little free time that he had he enjoyed hunting and attending auctions. He was a member of the Catawba Fire Department, served as Trustee for the Village of Catawba, Was a member of the VFW Post No. 6177, and a Charter Member of the Southern Price County VFW Post No. 8491. He is survived by one daughter, Patty (Dwight) Freymiller, Idaho; and by one son, Stacy, Catawba. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille, on May 8, 1993; by two sister, Rose Story and Ethel Tews; and by one infant borther, Jackie.
Funeral services will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, March 12, at the Heindl Funeral Home in Prentice with Pastor Richard Hall officiating. Interment will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Hawkins. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5:00 P.M. until the time of services.The Heindl Funeral Home in Prentice is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
