Edward Harold Peterson
age 85, of Butternut, died on Thursday July 5, 2012 at Park Manor Nursing Home in Park Falls.  He was born on June 9, 1927 in the Town of Chippewa, the son of Peter and Mary (Turner) Peterson.  His early life and schooling were in Butternut.  Harold was a veteran of the United States Army serving during WWII and the rebuilding of Japan.  On August 20, 1960 he married Carol Hirtreiter.  He was a self employed truck driver and logger and worked for the Flambeau Paper Mill for 18 years.  Edward was a member of the Butternut American Legion Post.
 
He is survived by:
his wife Carol of Butternut
his sister Ruth Weinberger of Butternut
and many niece,s nephews, and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, (3)brothers: Carl, Willard, and Melvin Peterson, and his sister Margaret Tank.
 
A memorial service will be held on Monday July 9, 2012 at 10:30am from Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Butternut.  Fr. Shaji Pazhukkathara and Deacon Bob Scheinebeck will officiate.
 
Interment will take place at St. Cecelia Catholic Cemetery with military rites under the auspices of the Butternut American Legion Post.
 
A gathering of family and friends will be held at the church on Monday from 9:30am until the hour of the service.
 
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
