Gertrude Armella Olson
age 94, of Butternut, died on Friday August 17, 2012 at Park Manor Nursing Home in Park Falls.  She was born on June 14, 1918 in Butternut, the daughter of Albert and Mathilda (Knueppel) Venz.  She attended school in Town of Lake, Butternut High School, and the Ashland County Teacher's College in Ashland.  In 1942, Gertrude moved to Chicago to work at a War Plant, Chicago Etching.  In 1948 she married Leslie Olson in Chicago.  The couple moved to Park Falls in 1963.  Mrs. Olson was employed for many years at Park Manor Nursing Home in Park Falls.  Gertrude loved dogs, crossword puzzles, and watching the Chicago Cubs.  She enjoyed stories about the woods, especially about her nephews tame and friendly partridge.
 
She is survived by:
her stepson Richard Olson of Roselle, IL
her sister-in-law Audrey Venz of Butternut,
and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Leslie in 1968, her parents and (14)brothers and sisters.
 
Funeral services will be held on Saturday August 25, 2012 at 10:30am from St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Butternut.  Rev. John A. Deitz will officiate.
 
Burial will follow at Butternut Union Cemetery in Butternut.
 
A visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:30am until the hour of the service at the church.
