Dean A. Upson, 84, Phillips, died on Sunday, September 23, 2012, at the Aspirus Pleasant View Nursing Home, Phillips He was born on October 29, 1927, in Mott, North Dakota. He came to Price County to the Phillips area as a child with his family. He attended country school in the Phillips area .He was married to Grace Surprenant
 on December 22, 1948, in Phillips. He was employed at various occupations including local mink ranchs, the Flambeau Feed Mill, Phillips and at Norco /Jeld-
Wen Windows Hawkins for over 25 years prior to his retirement in 1991. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Phillips where he was a trustee and custodian for many years, served as a volunteer at the Price County Achievement Center Thrift Shop and was a member of the Philips Planning Commission. In his free time he enjoyed the outdoors, reading Western novels, and especially spending time with his grand and great- grandchildren
He is survived by his wife Grace, Phillips, by 1 son: Dennis (Maria) Upson, Phillips, by 3 daughters: Gloria (Robert) Kucaba, Catawba, and Twin daughters: Sally (Richard )Miller, and Sherry Poetzl, all of Phillips, by 6 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and by 1 sister Dora Walker, Phillips.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at the First United Methodist Church, Phillips, with Pastor Loretta Waughtal officiating. Interment will be in the Lakeside Cemetery, Phillips. Friends may call after 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday at the church until the time of the service.
