Frank R Feit Jr. (Junie) passed away peacefully on September 26th 2012 at Flambeau Hospital, in Park Falls, WI, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Park Falls in 1926 where he grew up and was educated at St. Anthony's of Padua Catholic School from 1st through 8th grade; then Lincoln High School, during which time he played basketball. Junie enlisted in the Army in 1944, and served his country during WWII until the war ended in 1946. He was awarded the Purple Heart, among several other awards.
He returned to the states and entered barber school in Chicago, IL. After graduating in 1947, he received his certification and moved back to Park Falls. It was during his time in Chicago that he met his future wife, Mary Bushey, from Butternut, WI who was working at the Sheridan Hotel in Chicago, at the time. Junie and Mary were married on November 20, 1948.
Upon arriving back in Park Falls, Junie worked briefly at the local paper mill. In May of 1948, Junie gained employment as a barber's apprentice. He continued barbering for another 10 years, opening "Feit's Barber Shop" in 1958, located on 1st Street in Park Falls. He eventually opened a second shop in Fifield, and serviced patrons there every Wednesday and Saturday. He often went into elderly men's homes, to cut their hair, when they could no longer come in to the shop. Hundreds of boys growing up in Park Falls in the 50's, 60's, 70's, and 80's, will remember getting their first haircuts by Mr. Feit. Junie retired from barbering in the early 90's. From 1955 to 1970, Junie served as a Park Falls Volunteer Fireman.
Junie loved nature and the outdoors. Throughout his life, he enjoyed fishing, deer and duck hunting, camping, and bird watching. His extensive decoy collection was featured in the Park Falls Herald. Every spring/summer he and wife Mary would carefully plant flowers all around their yard, making it a stunning show piece. In the winter months, Junie was noted for building a signature snowman in the front yard.
In addition to being an outdoorsman, Junie had many hobbies throughout his years. He raised Homing Pigeons for many decades, often racing them. He raised hunting dogs as well. Junie loved to golf, and was a member of the Park Falls Country Club. He was an accomplished wood carver of animals, and outdoor scenes. His one of a kind works are now mainly displayed in his home and the homes of his children. People knew him for his dedication to family and friends, his stories and his terrific sense of humor. He will be deeply missed by all those whose lives he touched.
Junie is survived by his wife Mary (Bushey) Feit, five sons, Mark (Markalena) Feit; Michael (Judy) Feit; Joseph (Jessica) Feit all of Park Falls; Peter (Kathy) Feit of Negaunee, MI and John Feit of Albany, CA; four daughters Brenda Frantz of El Cerrito, CA; Jessica (Larry) Roberts; Suzanne Feit and Rebecca (Joseph) Bianco all of Park Falls; nineteen grandchildren and five step grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren and seven great step grandchildren.
