
Harold B. Baker, 85, Township of Georgetown-Kennan, died on Monday, November 19, 2012, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield. He was born on August 13, 1927, in Kennan, the son of Bertrum and Florence (Fiebig) Baker. He attended school in Kennan .He was married to Bertha Stibs on June 20, 1953, in Prentice.
He served his country in the US Army- Air Force during WW2 where he was stationed in China and Japan.
He was employed as a cheesemaker for most of his working career. His was employed at the Woodlawn Cheese Factory and at Zorn’ s Cheese Factory both in Catawba. He then moved to Milwaukee and worked at Allis Chalmers until 1953. He then returned to Kennan and began a 34 year career as a Cheesemaker at the Liberty Co-op Cheese factory. After the closing of the factory he worked with Wisconsin Dairies for 5 years prior to his retirement.
He was involved in many community and church affairs including; a Supervisor for the Town of Georgetown, the Kennan/Georgetown Fire Department Board, the American Dairy Association, and the Kennan Cemetery Association
As a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Kennan, he served as a Trustee, President, Financial Secretary and Treasurer.
He is survived by his wife of over 59 years, Bertha, Township of Georgetown, by 1 daughter; Debra (Joseph) Hagan, Nashotah, Wi., 1 son: Lawrence, Catawba, by 3 grandchildren: Tammy (Jason) Woodbury, Milwaukee, Barry (Anna) Hagan, Houston, Tx., and Wanda (Jared) Tracy, Portland, Ore., by 2 great grandsons: Johnathan and Jackson Woodbury., by 6 sisters: Bernice Halmstad, Catawba, Eileen Madson, Milwaukee, Alice (George) Valiga, Phillips, Carole (James) Peterson, Madison, Beverly (Ralph) Watral, Somers, Wi., and Karen (Robert) Doremire, Oconomowoc, Wi. and 4 brothers,
Delmar (Ruth) Baker and Don (Jane )Baker, all of Fairfield, Ca., Albert Baker, Merrifield, Minn., and Lynn (Patty) Baker ,Lannon, Wi., by 1brother-in-law Richard Liebelt, Phillips and 1 sister-in-law Karen Baker, Grafton, Wi.,
He was preceded in death by his parents, by 1 sister Celia Liebelt and 1 brother Gerald Baker.
A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, November 24, 2012, at the Zion Lutheran Church, Kennan, with Pastor John Trewyn officiating. Inurnment will be in the Kennan Cemetery, Kennan. Military Honors will be conducted by the Southern Price County VFW Post #8491. Friends may call at the church from 10:00 A.M. Saturday until the time of the service.
The Heindl Funeral Home, Phillips, is in charge of the arrangements.
