

JAMES MORGAN WILLIAMS, 76, W5968 Daisy Lane, Park Falls, died peacefully at his home on December 7, 2012, surrounded by family. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Audrey, his children Laurelea, Kent (Karin Jacobs), Clark (Jim Moore), and Libby (Mike Jackson), and his grandchildren Amelia and Maddy Williams, Caroline Williams, and Kayla and Gunnar Jackson. He was preceded in death by his son James.
Jim was an airman in the United States Air Force from 1955-1959, and received his bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, and doctorate from the University of Texas in Austin. He taught Sociology at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire from 1969-1999, where he chaired the Sociology Department from 1982-1990.
Jim believed in the importance of education, and loved visiting local libraries with his grandchildren. An avid hunter, fisherman, and conservationist, Jim worked to protect Wisconsin’s woods, lakes and streams for future generations.
A memorial service will be held at Northwoods Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 8625 Peggys Lane, Woodruff, on Sunday, December 16 at 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Friends of the Park Falls Library and Phillips Public Library.
The family thanks Flambeau Home Health and Hospice for the love and care they provided to Jim during his last days.
