Leona Barbara Wardensky, 93, Park Falls



 
Leona Barbara Wardensky, 93 of Park Falls, passed away Thursday, December 6, 2012 at Aspirus Pleasant View, Phillips. Born January 23, 1919 in Fremont, Wisconsin, Leona was a daughter of the late Ernest Boushon and Mary Heiting Boushon.
 
Leona was a strong, spirited woman with a zest for life and a love of family. A lifelong jokester and talented seamstress, she loved to dance, garden, play cards, and spend time with family and friends.
 
Her family treasures the many stuffed animals she created. Leona was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, an organization affiliated with freemasonry, where she was involved in a number of charitable causes. She was active with the Flambeau Clown Unit in Park Falls, and also volunteered at local nursing homes. Her family will always think of her when they hear polka music.
 
Leona is survived by daughters Marylee Balzer Hoiness and Linda Balzer Monroe; granddaughters Suzanne Hoiness Cope, Christina Hoiness Johnson, Wendy Monroe Rumney, and Pamela Monroe Sharpe; and great granddaughters Kira Cope, Alicia Rumney, and Rebecca Rumney.
 
In addition to her parents, Leona was preceded in death by her husbands Frank Balzer and Reinhart Wardensky; brother, Cliff Boushon; sister Deloris Boushon Newman; and sons-in-law John Hoiness and William Monroe.
 
A memorial gathering will be held on Monday February 18, 2013 at Sugarbush Bar and Grill in Park Falls from 2:00pm until 5:00pm.  Friends and family are invited to share memories and Polka music in honor of Leona.
