
James Frank Makovsky, 73, Prentice, died in the Sacred Heart Hospital in Tomahawk on Saturday, February 16, 2013. He was born in the Town of Harmony on July 11, 1939, the son of Adolph and Eleanor (Lasee) Makovsky. He was a 1958 graduate of the Phillips High School. He served his country in the United States Air Force as an Aircraft Maintenance Technician Specialist during Viet Nam War. He was married to Bernadine Lazar in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hawkins on September 12, 1970. He operated Makovsky’s Custom Meats in Prentice until the time of his retirement. He was a member of St. the Baptist Catholic Church of Prentice, and was a Life Member of the Southern Price County VFW Post No. 8491. He loved Sundays, first and most important to attend church, and then to listen to the Sunday polka programs, and was very patriotic, always flying the American flag. He enjoyed spending time with his family, cooking, planting tulips, and spending time with his dog, Smokey. He is survived by his wife, Bernadine; by six children, Sheri Jablonsky, Prentice, Douglas (Christine Moidl), Phillips, Brandon (Arlene), Prentice, Robert, Phillips, Rebecca Makovsky, Prentice, and Leigh Ann Makovsky, Prentice; by 14 grandchildren; by one sister, Delores Sykorka, Sioux City, IA; and by one brother, Gerald (Ruthie), Boise, ID. He is preceded in death by his parents, and by one sister, Darlene Lazar.
Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, February 21, at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Catawba with Father Gerald Hagen celebrating the Funeral Mass. Military Honors will be conducted by the southern Price County VFW Post No 8491. Inurnment will be in the Catawba Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Thursday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services. The Heindl Funeral Home in Prentice is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
