John F. Weindorfer, 89, longtime Fifield resident, died on Wednesday March 27, 2013, at the Aspirus Pleasant View Nursing Home, Phillips .He was born on February 13, 1924, in Hillstown, Pennsylvania, to the Weindorfer family
He moved with his family to Milwaukee as a child. He was educated in Milwaukee. He was married to Elizabeth Liebsch on June 19 1944 in MilwaukeeShe preceded him in death on April 21, 2010. He was a dedicated veteran who served in 3 branchs of the military. He started his career with the U.S. navy from 1941 to 1948. He survived the attack on Pearl Harbor He then enlisted in the U.S. Army and served from 1948 to 1949. He finished his military career with the U.S. Air Force from 1949 to 1971. While serving his country he was an aviation engineer who retired with the rank of Sr. Master Sargeant. He was currently working on a book that would include all service personal buried in local cemeteries.
He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Fifield, the Park Falls VFW Post #182, the American Legion Post #532, Fifield, and the AmVets Post#50, Phillips.
He is survived by 4 children: David (Elizabeth) Weindorfer, Cudahy, Wi., John F. Jr. (Sharon) Weindorfer, Park Falls, Beth (Steve) Klug, Eau Claire, Wi., and Kenneth (Special Friend Beverly Lemke) Weindorfer, Park Falls, 7 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and by 1 brother: Nick Weindorfer, Florida,
He was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth, by his parents, and by 1 sister Dorothy Weindorfer.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Fifield, with Fr. Shaji Pazhukkaihara officiating. Interment will be in the Forest Home, Cemetery, Fifield with military honors conducted by the Park Falls VFW Post #182, the American Legion Post #532, Fifield, and the AmVets Post #50.
Friends may call from 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday at the church until the time of the service.
