Irene A. Weinzinger, Medford and Phillips

Irene A. Weinzinger, Medford, former longtime Phillips area resident, died on Saturday, May 11, 2013, at her home in Medford. She was born on November 26, 1920, in the Township of Worcester, the daughter of Paul and Anna (Roeder) Detzel. She was a resident of the Phillips area for most of her life. She attended and graduated from Phillips High School. She was married to Martin Weinzinger on July 1, 1941, in Dubuque, Iowa.
She and her husband owned and operated in the Township of Elk the Wig Wam and later the Deer Farm Tavern, until it was destroyed by fire. She was also employed by the Central School District as a cook from 1950 to 1986. She made her home in Medford to be near her daughter in 1998.
She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Phillips. In her free time she enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, TV game shows and spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by 1 daughter: Lucille (Allyn) Loertscher, Medford, 4 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and by 1 Half-Sister Marge Klchosky, Phillips.
She was preceded in death by her parents, by her husband Martin on Apr. 3, 1978, by 3 brothers: Paul Detzel, Jr., Fred Detzel, and Lawrence Detzel, by 1 sister: Margaret Eckoldt, by 1 step sister Leona Hermanson, 1 step brother Lloyd Fleitner, and by 1 special aunt Ida Roeder.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, May 16, 2013 at St. John Lutheran Church, Phillips, with Pastor Thomas Reiff officiating. Interment will be in the Lakeside Cemetery, Phillips. Friends may call at the church from 9:30 A.M. until the time of the service.
