Josephine Hilda Warren-Stahnke, 79, Phillips, died in the St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield on Wednesday, June 26. She was born in the Town of Emery on April 13, 1934, the daughter of Joseph and Hilda (Plyer) Sikyta. She was a 1952 graduate of the Phillips High School, and a 1976 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. During her career she held a number of nursing positions in health care, retiring in 1999. She was married to Thomas Warren in Phillips on February 20, 1954, and he preceded her in death on December 11, 1996. She was married to Albert Stahnke in St. John Lutheran Church in Phillips on October 18, 1997. In 1988 she returned to the Sikyta family home in the Town of Emery. She was a member of Saint John Lutheran Church of Phillips. In her free time she enjoyed travel and crocheting. She is survived by her husband, Albert; by six children, Wayne (Norma) Warren, Virginia Beach, NC, Lisa (Ron) Westenberg, Watertown, WI, Laura Warren, Watertown, WI, Steve (Suzanne) Warren, Watertown, WI, Tom (Kathy) Warren, Watertown, WI, and Mary Jill (Steve) Mepham, Fort Atkinson, WI; by six grandchildren and by two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Thomas Warren, on December 11, 1996.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, July 1, at Saint John Lutheran Church in Phillips with Reverend Thomas Reiff officiating. Inurnment will be in the Emery Cemetery in the Town of Emery. Friends may call at the church on Monday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services.
