Darwin Blaine Hartmann Sr., 64, Prentice, died in the Aspirus Wausau Hospital in Wausau on Thursday, October 3, 2013. He was born in Phillips on March 4, 1949, the son of Ralph and Lela (Stade) Hartmann. He was a 1967 graduate of the Prentice High School. He was married to Beverly Marheine in Prentice on October 10, 1987. In his working career he was employed as a welder by the Surge Company, drove over the road, logging, and gravel trucks, and in latter years was employed as a crane operator by the Biewer Sawmill. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Prentice. In his free time he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and watching sports, especially the Packers and Brewers.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly; by four children, Dawn (Todd) Pomrening, Hughes, Alaska, Donna (Kelley) Akey, Athens, WI, Darwin Bruce (Tennille) Hartmann Jr, Athens, WI, and Josie Bacholl, Prentice; by four step children, Kris (Ron) Gerstberger, Rib Lake, Kari (Corky) Rodman, Rib Lake, WI, Kathi (Brian) Nutting, Medford, WI, and Kelli Bacholl, Rib Lake, WI; by 19 grandchildren; by three brothers, Dennis (Walda) Hartmann, Prentice, Duke (Ann) Hartmann, Prentice, WI, and Dale Hartmann, Prentice, WI; and by two sisters, Darlene Teele, Prentice, WI, and Dorie Anklam, Prentice, WI. One infant sister, Donna, precedes him in death.
Memorial services will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, October 6, at the First Lutheran Church in Prentice with Pastor Richard Hall officiating. Interment will be in the Lakeside Cemetery in Phillips. Friends may call at the church on Sunday from 2:00 P.M. until the time of services.
