Charles James Vasek, 71, Town of Emery, died in the Flambeau Hospital in Park Falls on Friday, October 4. He was born on January 9, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Charles and Francie (Zak) Vasek. He was a 1960 graduate of the Phillips High School. He was married to Rita Lontcoski in Phillips on April 9, 1983. He operated a dairy farm in the Town of Emery, was employed by Cranberry Lake Development Corporation, by Marquip in security, and by the Town of Emery. In his free time he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and flying radio controlled airplanes. He is survived by his wife, Rita; by two sons, Charles Jay (Kim), Phillips, and Thomas, Phillips; by three grandchildren, Max Vasek, Bradley (Darenda) Hlasny, and Sam Schertz; and by one great granddaughter, Sonja Hlasny. He is preceded in death by his parents, and by one infant brother, Thomas.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, October 12, at the Heindl Funeral Home in Phillips with Pastor Carol Gabrielson of the Victory Christian Center officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services.
