Stanley R. Karpinski, Jr., 73, Township of Flambeau, died on Thursday, October 24, 2013, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield. He was born on August 10, 1940, in Chicago, Ill., the son of Stanley, Sr., and Anna (Nanista) Karpinski. He attended school in Chicago where he graduated from Tilden Technical School. He was married to Diana Kaufmann on August 17, 1968, in Phillips. He owned and operated the Bulko Gulf gas station in Chicago with his father for many years and also was employed at Supreme Products until 1970. They made their home in Price County in 1970. In Price County he operated a dairy farm with his family until 1982. was then employed by Phillips Plastics, Marquip, by Price County in the Maintenance Dept., and also owned and operated Totem Pole Liquors. until the time of his retirement. In his free time he enjoyed spending time with his family, driving in the countryside and his wife’s cooking.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Diana, Township of Flambeau, by 3 daughters: Cora (Cirilo) Aguilar, Marshfield, Nora (Phillip) Thums, Medford, and Lora Karpinski, Fitchburg, Wi., by 3 grandchildren Jacob, Brice, and Sarah, and by 4 sisters: Pat Crepinsek, Park Falls, GiGi (Ernie) Toutant, Toulan, Ill., Sue (Frank) Salerno, Sheridan, Il., and Barb (Rich) Parse, Itasca,Ill., many nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by his parents, by 1 brother Jim Karpinski, and by 1 sister Karen McGhee.
The funeral service will be held on Monday, October 28, 2013, at 10:00 A.M. at St. Therese of Liseaux Catholic Church, Phillips, with Deacon James Celba officiating. Interment will be in the St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Phillips, Friends may all after 6:00 P.M. on Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013, at the Heindl Funeral Home, Phillips where a parish wake service will be held at 7:00 P.M. and also at the church on Monday from 9:00 A.M . until the time of the service.
