Karen M. Zink, 71, Phillips

Karen M. Zink, 71, Phillips died on Saturday, March 1, 2014, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield. She was born on August 11, 1942, in Phillips the daughter of George, Sr. and Ruth (Stafford) Kozak. She spent her early life and schooling in the Phillips area. She attended and graduated from Phillips High School, Class of 1960. After graduation from high school, Karen moved to Illinois where she went on to school to pursue a career in banking. She married Frederick Zink III, on May 6, 1961 in Phillips. They started a family in 1962. Motherhood than became a full-time job, as well as being a member of the Willow Springs Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary and also an Auxiliary member of their local church. Returning back to school she pursued her banking career once again. Retiring in 1992, they moved to Lakeland, Florida to be closer to their children and grandchildren, Karen’s hobbies have changed from being a taxi, sewing, and a lot of cooking to gardening, swimming and walking on the beautiful beaches as well as enjoying all of the sunshine. Karen made her home in Phillip in 2013. While in Phillips she was a member of St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church.
She is survived by 1 son George Frederick (Bridgett Smith) Zink, Windfield, Ill, by 8 grandchildren: Jaime (Vanessa) Hernandez, Jason (Sherry) Hernandez, Joseph A., Makayla, Katelyn, George, MeKenna and Kaelinn, by 4 great grandchildren; Gina, James, Joel and Isabel., by 2 brothers: George (Sandy) Kozak, Phillips, and Randy (Pam) Kozak, Park Falls, Wi., by 1 son-in-law Jimmy Hanks, Defuniak Springs, Fla
 by nieces, nephews, relatives and friends, and a special pet Mitzy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, by her husband Frederick III on Aug. 3, 2010, by 1 daughter April Zink Hanks, by 1 son: James Frederick, by 1 sister Lynda Kozak Myers, by 1 grandson Joel, and by 1 son-in-law Anastacio Hernandez.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, March 8, 2014, at St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church, Phillips, with Fr. Gerald Hagen officiating. Friends may call at the church from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service.
The Heindl Funeral Home, Phillips is in charge of the arrangements.
