Evelyn M. Kochan 88, Township of Ogema, died on Saturday, May 10, 2014, at the Golden Living Center, Rib Lake, surrounded by her family. She was born on November 20, 1925, in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of Stanley and Veronica (Gonka) Stodola. She spent her early life and schooling in Chicago. She was married to Albin J. Kochan on October 11, 1947, in Chicago. Her husband preceded her in death on December 16, 2007. She and her husband owned and operated Veterans Cab Co., in North Lake, Ill., for many years prior to their retirement. Upon retirement in 1975, they made their home in Ogema. In her free time she enjoyed spending time with her family, visiting the local casinos, canning, cooking, gardening, crocheting, and sewing.
She is survived by her children; Carolyn Nelson, Valparaiso, In, Carl (Amy) Bartlett, Ill., Cathy (David) Gunderman, Ogema, Andy (Lori) Waterford, Wi., Tony (Linda) and Albert (Carrie) all of Ogema, and Karen (Dave) Kaliski, Antioch, Ill., 16 grandchildren: Chris, Chance and Cara Nelson, Lonni, Carl, Allan, Adam, Ashley, Jordan, Cody, Kyle, Derek, Austin, and Hailey Kochan,, and Tim and Valerie Gunderman and by 7 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, by her husband Albin, by 4 sisters: Stella, Albina, Bernice, and Florence, and by her twin brother Edwin.
A private family service will be held at the Heindl Funeral Home in Prentice, with burial in the Hillside Cemetery, Ogema.
