Raymond O. Johnson, 86, died on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at the St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield. He was born on January 19, 1929, in Phillips, the son of Arthur O. and Ruth (Foster) Johnson. .He attended Phillips High School before entering military service. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WW2 during the Occupation of Japan. Following military service he returned to Phillips. He was married to Phyllis Olson on August 23, 1952, in Eau Claire, Wi. They celebrated over 53 years of marriage. She preceded him in death on September 7, 2005. He was a partner with his father in Johnson’s Heating and Plumbing in Phillips, and later in partnership with his brother John in Johnson’s Hardware, Phillips for many years prior to his retirement. .In his free time he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing and especially enjoyed his time at his cabin .
He was a member of the Phillips Fire and Ambulance Service for many years, and also the Frank and Michael Baran VFW Post #5778 and the Lane-Kreiling American Legion Post #122, both of Phillips
He is survived by 4 children: Randy (Pam) Johnson, Marshfield/Phillips, Terry (Peggy) Johnson, Carolyn (Rick) Liebelt, and Brent (special friend Missy Rzanca) all of Phillips, by 11 grandchildren Kim Johnson Mitch Johnson Angel (Ted) Lathrop Jared Johnson Jeremiah (Raquel) Johnson, Elizabeth (Mike) Tommarello, Carrie (Denis) Setterman, Brianne (Brian) Petruzalek, Tucker (Kelly) Johnson, Tim Johnson, and Grace Johnson, all of Wisconsin. , 20 great grand children, by 3 brothers: William Johnson, Pinehurst, Idaho, John (Ginger) Johnson, Phillips, and Charles (Virginia) Johnson, Berlin, Wi., by 4 sisters: Dorothy Fischer, Park Falls, Wi., June (Harlan) French, Phillips, Betty (Ken) Pierrard, Mi., and Ruth (Bob) Koester, Coon Rapids, Minn.
He was preceded in death by his parents, by his wife Phyllis on Sept. 7, 2005, by 1 sister Jean, and by 1 grandson Kelly Liebelt.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 14 2014, at 11:00 A.M. at the United Methodist Church, Phillips, with Pastor Jody Becker officiating. Interment will be in the Lakeside Cemetery, Phillips, with military honors by the Frank and Michael Baran VFW Post #5778 and the Lane-Kreiling American Legion Post #122 presiding.
Friends may call at the church on Saturday, June 14, 2014 from 9:30 A.M. until the time of the service.
