Joseph John Martinek, 71, Glen Flora, died at his campground at
Holcombe, Wisconsin, on Sunday, June 29. He was born in Catawba,
Wisconsin, on March 14, 1943, the son of John and Mary (Novak) Martinek
Sr. He was a 1961 graduate of the Phillips High School, and attended the
Technical School in Ashland where he learned welding. He was married to
Jean Bloomer on April 25, 2008, in the Little Brown Church in Nashua,
Iowa. He was employed as a welder by Prentice Hydraulics, Omark
Industries, Blount, and Caterpillar in Prentice, retiring in 2010 after
44 years of service. In his free time he enjoyed pontoon boating,
working on tractors, working with his Caterpillar bulldozer, and
Wintering in Texas.
He is survived by his wife, Jean; by stepdaughters, Tammy Bloomer,
Ingram, WI, and Sherry (George) Kruppe, Madison, WI; by two
grandchildren, Brooke Kruppe and Branden Kruppe; and by one nephew,
Steve Markovich, Phillips. He is preceded in death by one brother,
John; and by his sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Steve
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, July 3, at
St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Catawba with Father Gerald Hagen
celebrating the Funeral Mass. Interment will be in the Kennan Cemetery
in Kennan. Friends may call at the church on Thursday from 9:00 A.M.
until the time of services.
